Create mailboxes on web hosting

Every web hosting plan at DeluxHost includes email on your own domain, managed from the Enhance panel. In a few minutes you can have addresses like hello@yourdomain.com, with SSL and the right DNS records set up for you. Here is how to get it all working.

Opening the Enhance panel

Open your web hosting service from the dashboard. On the Overview tab, press the button to open the Enhance panel. You are signed in automatically. Everything for your websites, email, DNS and SSL lives there.

Creating a mailbox

1. In Enhance, choose your website and open Email.
2. Press Add mailbox.
3. Enter the name before the @, for example hello.
4. Set a strong password and, if your plan allows, a storage quota.
5. Save. The mailbox is ready to use straight away.

You can read mail in the browser with Webmail, or add the account to Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or your phone.

Connecting a mail app

Most apps detect the settings automatically. If yours asks for them, use these values:

Tip: Always use the full email address as the username, not just the part before the @. It is the number one reason mail apps refuse to log in.

DNS records for good delivery

If your domain uses our nameservers, Enhance creates every record for you. If your DNS is managed somewhere else, add these at your provider:

• An MX record pointing to your mail server.
• An SPF TXT record that allows our servers to send for your domain.
• A DKIM TXT record, copied from the Email section in Enhance.
• A DMARC TXT record, starting with a monitoring policy.

Copy the exact values from Enhance rather than from this example, since they are generated for your account.

SSL for mail and websites

Enhance issues free SSL certificates automatically for your domain and for mail.yourdomain.com, and renews them before they expire. If a certificate is missing, it is almost always because DNS was not pointing to us when Enhance tried to issue it. Fix the DNS, then press Reissue in the SSL section.

Forwarders and aliases

Do not need a full mailbox? Create a forwarder instead, for example sales@ forwarding to your personal inbox. Forwarders use no storage and are perfect for addresses you only need to receive on.

If mail does not arrive

Check these in order:

1. The MX record points to the right server (dig MX yourdomain.com).
2. The mailbox is not over its quota.
3. The message is not sitting in the spam folder in Webmail.

If everything looks right, open a ticket from Support with the sender address, recipient address and approximate time.
